We are delighted to repeat our sponsorship of Chipping Norton's Literary Festival in 2017, specifically Armando Iannucci's Desert Island Books at The Theatre on Thursday 6 April. The comic genius behind Alan Partridge, The Thick Of It and Veep, owner of numerous Baftas, Emmys and an Oscar nomination reveals the books he would grab en route to a desert island. Armando abandoned his PhD on John Milton to pursue a career in comedy, we’ll find out if he would now include Milton on his desert island bookshelf. You can book tickets here.

Armando Iannucci is a writer and broadcaster, who has written, directed and produced numerous critically acclaimed television and radio comedy shows. His screenplay for the film In The Loop was nominated for an Oscar at the Academy Awards, and his iconic series for BBC – The Thick of It – was nominated for 13 BAFTA Awards, winning 5 during its four series run. Armando’s HBO comedy Veep has picked up numerous awards including two Emmys for Outstanding Comedy Series over the last four years, and he is currently adapting a new version of Charles Dickens’ David Copperfield for the big screen. As well as publishing a new book on classical music, Armando's latest feature film The Death of Stalin will be released in the autumn of 2017.

Midlands Comedian of the Year!

Many congratulations to Duncan Oakley for scooping the title "Midlands Comedian of the Year 2016" to add to 2015's English Comedian of the Year! We think he's the bees knees and look forward to welcoming him back to Shitfaced-under-Whatwood for a second tour of duty in February 2017.

When Harry Met Lyndsey

A nice little video from Harry Stachini whose first gig for Flock Comedy was his 200th gig! We were at Wendlebury Village Hall and Harry met the Head Teacher of a local school. She was sat in the front row with her daughters - here's what happened...

Good Luck to Chris McCausland and Nick Page

Who will be crowned the English Comedian of the Year 2016? Over 300 comedians entered the competition and we're down to the final ten. Over two hours, the best circuit comics in the country will do their utmost to impress the celebrity judging panel with their jokes, good looks and ability to deal with hecklers. The winner of the award receives £1,500 and a trip to perform at Australia's Adelaide Fringe to battle against the winners of the Scottish and Australian awards.

I wish both Nick and Chris the very best and sincerely hope that one of them lifts the crown - either would be a fitting and worthy winner of the competition.
